Board Chairman of Medeama Sporting Club and former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council Member, Dr. Anthony Aubynn, says qualification to the FIFA World Cup is important and Ghana must do everything to qualify.
He made these comments in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports with Ghana on the verge of progressing to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Next year’s World Cup will be hosted in the United States of America, Mexico and Canada and after picking up a 1-0 win over Mali, Ghana leads Group I with 19 points with two games remaining in the qualifiers.
“Black Stars qualifying [to the World Cup] is extremely important; it adds to our reputation as a football nation. Ghana is a football might in Africa and the records show…but I think qualifying is very important to us and I think we must do everything to qualify” Dr. Aubynn said.

Ghana is aiming to qualify to the World Cup for the fifth time and take on Central African Republic and Comoros on October 8 and 11 respectively to see out its qualifiers.
