Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has stated that his ministry has put in place a structured system to have sports federations categorized in an attempt to ensure trust and proper governance of such federations to make them attractive to investors and fans.

He made this disclosure in an exclusive interview on Citi Breakfast Show while discussing several key points in the sports sector.

Noting that poor governance is a key factor behind several sports disciplines struggles to attract investment, the Minister stated steps have been made to address this.

“In Ghana football happens to be the most organized of all the known federations…it seems the most organized. However, the individual other federations, the governance structure I must say is poor.”

Sports Minister Kofi Adams

“We had an engagement with them (such federations) to let them know that your governance structure is key; that is what will engender trust and confidence in people to want to put their money into whatever it is you are doing so be transparent.”

GFA President Kurt Okraku

“We also have put in place a structured system to have them categorized because what we have realized is that for some of them, they only exist to…travel” he said.
