Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams says football stakeholders in Ghana feel people are being hard on them when they are called on to do better.
He said this in an exclusive interview on the Citi Breakfast Show where he stated that some sports federations only exist for travel purposes and not necessarily to grow the respective disciplines. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
Highlighting football’s space as the most organized in Ghana’s sports, the Minister was quick to note that several issues have blighted the discipline including poor patronage at league games, bad pitches and fan violence.
He went on to communicate his belief that there is a lot to generate from the football space beyond what is being churned out at the moment.
“The most organized sports…or the federation (GFA) itself has serious challenges. I have had course sometimes to speak in a manner that some club owners have not been happy but I was rather trying to help because I was wondering whether they are aware that football is big business.”

“When you call on them to do what is right, they feel like you’re being too hard on them but I’m doing so because I see a bigger opportunity for them. The federation leadership has their responsibility no doubt about that” he said.
