Liverpool French forward Hugo Ekitike has reacted to his dismissal from Liverpool’s win over Southampton in the Carabao Cup.
The Reds beat the Saints 2-1 at Anfield to qualify to the next round of the competition with Liverpool’s recently signed forwards Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike scoring the goals in the win.
However, after coming off the bench to score the winning goal in the 85th minute off an unselfish play from Federico Chiesa, Ekitike got dismissed from the game for taking off his shirt to celebrate the goal that attracted a second yellow card.
“I was so excited tonight to help the team achieve another victory here in our home for my first Carabao Cup match. The emotion got the better of me tonight.”
