One of the sons of football legend Zinedine Zidane has been called up to the Algerian National Men’s Football Team, the Fennec Foxes.

27 year old goalkeeper Luca Zidane got named in the Algerian National Team’s latest iteration for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Zinedine Zidane is of Algerian descent.

Algeria is scheduled to play against Somalia and Uganda on October 9 and October 14; Algeria leads the standings in Group G with 19 points.

Algeria have six wins, a loss and a draw in eight qualification games played and hold a four point lead over second ranked Uganda and third ranked Mozambique who have 15 points apiece.

A win for Algeria in any of their two remaining games secures Algeria’s place in next year’s World Cup that will be co-hosted in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
