Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach, Abdul Karim Zito, has called on his players to forget about its CAF Confederation Cup experience and focus on its ambitions of winning the Ghana Premier League title.
He said this ahead of Kotoko’s league game against Kpando Heart of Lions on Sunday, October 5 at 15:00 GMT at the Baba Yara Stadium.
This weekend’s game marks the return of Kotoko to the Baba Yara Stadium after the Porcupine Warriors spent significant time away from its home venue as the facility underwent maintenance.
In the lead up to the game, Kotoko beat Kwara United 1-0 in Nigeria in the CAF CONFED Cup to progress to the second round via a 5-3 win on aggregate.
Kotoko next take on Morocco’s Wydad Athletic on a yet to be determined date but Karim Zito says his team should focus on Kpando and not its Confederation Cup campaign for now.

“Samartex had the same problem, Nsoatreman had the same problem so I told them for now, we are thinking of Heart of Lions; all what we did against Kwara United should be put aside, Kwara United is now history.”

“If really our target is to win the Ghana Premier League, then we should beat Heart of Lions so I don’t think that complacency will come’ Zito said to Kotoko media.
