Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has called for support for Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, the Black Queens, as the team prepares to play against Egypt.

The Black Queens take on Egypt on Tuesday, October 28 at 15:30 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium in the second leg of the final round of qualifiers for the 2026 Women’s AFCON.

Next year’s Women’s AFCON takes place in Morocco from March 17 to April 3 and Ghana is aiming to qualify to the competition that serves as a pathway to qualify to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Ghana holds a 3-0 lead on aggregate in the lead up to the game after beating Egypt in Cairo and despite the big lead, the Sports Minister believes the Queens still need support from all stakeholders including fans.

“Yes they-the Black Queens- are leading 3-0 but they still need our presence at the stadium to give them that necessary support to energize them and for them to be able to do what we expect from them.”

Sports Minister Kofi Adams

“They have to qualify and they have to go to [the] AFCON and do well just like they did the las time if not better and to be able to take a ticket to the World Cup” Kofi Adams said.
