Medeama Sporting Club head coach Ibrahim Tanko says the club’s win over Nations FC is what a league contender like his team needs to do.

He said this in a post-game presser after Medeama’s 2-1 win over Nations FC at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa in the past round of the 2025-2026 Ghana Premier League season.

Medeama’s third win in four league games this season moves the club to second place in the standings with nine points; Kpando Heart of Lions lead the standings 10 points.

Tarkwa-based Medeama won the league title two seasons ago but have finished outside the top four in back to back seasons since; both past seasons have had Medeama finish eighth.

However, the Yellow and Mauve are aiming to win the title this season and Ibrahim Tanko believes getting a win over Nations FC is what teams that want to win the league do.

“It was a really tough game, the first 30 minutes was really good from us, we created chances, we scored one I think we should have been two or three [goals] up. This is the kind of game you have to win if you have to fight for the league.”
