Despite missing the services of Black Stars midfielder, Prince Owusu, Medeama SC managed to beat Nations FC 2-1 to win its third game in four Ghana Premier League outings this season.
Medeama’s latest win had head coach Ibrahim Tanko praise Owusu’s replacement for aiding the club overcome a tough hurdle in a post-game interview.
20 year old creative midfielder Owusu got a surprise call up to Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars, ahead of two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana take on Central African Republic (C.A.R.) on Wednesday, October 8 at 16:00 GMT in Morocco and Comoros on Sunday, October 12 at the Accra Sports Stadium at 19:00 GMT.
Though Tanko highlighted Owusu’s absence in the game, he was happy with the performance from his boys including Kelvin Nkrumah and Emmanuel Owusu to get the win.

“Definitely we missed Prince [Owusu] but I think those who played did very well. I tell them always, anyone can start anytime, so those who started did very well and I hope it continues like this” Ibrahim Tanko said to the club’s media.

Owusu is the latest Medeama player to be called to the Black Stars in recent years after Jonathan Sowah and Kamaradini Mamudu featured in the Black Stars past rosters.
