Australian guard Dyson Daniels has signed a four year contract extension with the Atlanta Hawks worth $100 million after a break out campaign in his first year with the Hawks.

Daniels signed the lucrative deal just before the start of the 2025-2026 NBA season with the Hawks set to take on the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, October 22.

The 22 year old Australian who is 6 foot 7 inches, emerged as a top defender in the league last season after spending his first two seasons in the league with the New Orleans Pelicans, the team that drafted him eighth overall in the 2022 NBA Draft.

After averaging 3.8 points and 5.8 points in his first two seasons with the Pelicans, Daniels and other players and draft picks were moved to the Hawks in a trade for Dejounte Murray ahead of the 2024-2025 season.

In his first season with the Hawks, Daniels averaged 14.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 3.3 steals in 76 games. He won the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award and led the entire league in steals.

His brilliant campaign also got him being named to the NBA’s All-Defensive First Team; Daniels is part of an exciting Atlanta nucleus of Trae Young, Kristaps Porzingis, Jalen Johnson, Zaccharie Risacher and Onyeka Okongwu.
