San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama delivered a statement performance in the team’s opening game of the NBA 2025-2026 season.

The rising French superstar produced a 40 point, 15 rebound double-double in San Antonio’s 125-92 win over the Dallas Mavericks in 30 minutes while registering three blocked shots.

Wembanyama played 46 games last season after his brilliant campaign was cut short by a shoulder injury; he averaged 24.3 points, 11 rebounds and 3.8 blocks to lead the entire league in the blocked shots category.

The 7 foot 5 inch player dominated the Mavericks including the 2025 NBA Draft number overall draft pick Cooper Flagg who produced 10 points and 10 rebounds in 32 minutes and Wembanyama stated that he was more in control of his game.

“[I was] much more in control of myself. I’m having more fun now that I’m not struggling to move as much. I know I still need to get better, and I’m still going to get better” Wembanyama said in a post-game interview with ESPN.
