Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) Yaw Ampofo Ankrah says his organization is in talks with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to set up fan zones to ensure the issue of overcrowding is prevented for Ghana’s final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

He made this announcement in a briefing with the press ahead of Ghana’s game against Comoros on Sunday, October 12 at 19:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Games involving Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team-the Black Stars-have been marred by scenes of overcrowding and as part of the NSA’s attempts to avoid such incidents from happening on Sunday, the NBA boss stated that fan zones will be set up at vantage areas for individuals who can’t gain access to the stadium.

“We don’t want the challenges that we had the last time when fans were crowded round the stadium looking to purchase tickets.”

“We are also in talks with the GFA and other partners to ensure that there would be some fan zones or fans areas around the stadium not necessarily around the stadium but where fans can watch the match safely” he said.

Yaw Ampofo Ankrah added that the NSA has been inundated with requests for tickets for Ghana’s game against Comoros with Ghana all but qualified to next year’s World Cup.
