Real Madrid CF have confirmed that defender Dean Huijsen has picked up a muscular injury and will be assessed further by its medical team.

The Spanish side confirmed that Spanish defender Huijsen has suffered a muscular injury to the soleus muscle in his left leg.

The injury has forced Huijsen to withdraw from Spain’s National Men’s Football Team camp with the injury expected to keep the former AFC Bournemouth player out for two weeks.

Spain is scheduled to play in 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria on October 11 and October 14 respectively.

Born in the Netherlands, Huijsen grew up in Spain from age five and was named a Spanish citizen in February 2024. He has since made six appearances for Spain’s National Team after playing for the Netherlands Under 17 and Under 19 teams prior.

In seven league games in his debut season at Real Madrid, Huijsen has an assist to his credit but has received a red card on two occasions with one coming in the FIFA Club World Cup.
