Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club head coach, Abdul Karim Zito, says the club has to beat Bibiani Gold Stars and has no excuse not to.

Kotoko take on the defending Ghana Premier League champions later today at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi in an outstanding fixture at 19:00 GMT.

Both clubs have represented Ghana in this season’s African inter club competitions; Gold Stars got eliminated from the CAF Champions League in the first round by Algeria’s JS Kabylie while Kotoko beat Nigeria’s Kwara United to qualify to the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Despite being without a substantive head coach after surprisingly sacking Frimpong Manso, Gold Stars have two wins in as many games while Kotoko have a win and a goalless draw against Kpando Heart of Lions in two league outings and Karim Zito believes that Kotoko need to make up for the dropped points against Lions.

“This is Asante Kotoko drawing [against Heart of Lions] so Wednesday, there is no excuse; we have to do everything possible to win. It won’t be easy for me but by all costs I have to win that game” Karim Zito said to Kotoko media.
