Ghana midfielder Mohammed Kudus says the Black Stars have to qualify to the 2026 FIFA World Cup at all cost but believes the team is on the right track to make it happen.

The Tottenham Hotspurs player said this in an interview with Sports Illustrated FC as Ghana stand on the verge of making it to next year’s World Cup that is scheduled to take place in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Ghana lead the standings in Group I with 19 points, three points ahead of second ranked Madagascar; the Black Stars take on Central African Republic (C.A.R) and Comoros on October 8 and 12 respectively to see out its qualifiers after failing to qualify to compete in this year’s AFCON.

“Not qualifying [to the AFCON] was a big disappointment but I think the full focus now is on the World Cup qualifiers. We have to qualify at all cost and I think we are on the right path now.”

“2010 [World Cup] we went all the way to the quarterfinals and I believe this squad can even do more than that but first, we have to qualify” Kudus said. Scroll down to watch interview
