All Hail Sir David Beckham; Man United legend gets knighted

Iconic former Manchester United winger David Beckham has been knighted by the King of the United Kingdom, Prince Charles III.

The former England international received his knighthood from the British Royal at Windsor Castle after making it to King Charles’ Birthday Honours List.

Beckham received the prestigious honour for his services to football and the British society during his days as a professional footballer and his humanitarian works including the one with UNICEF since 2005.

“I couldn’t be prouder. People know how patriotic I am – I love my country. I’ve always said how important the monarchy is to my family.”

“I’m lucky enough to have travelled around the world and all people want to talk to me about is our monarchy. It makes me proud” Beckham said according to the BBC.

Beckham earned 115 caps for England and played at three FIFA World Cups with his last being the 2006 edition and starred as captain.

He won the English Premier League title six times and the 1998-1999 UEFA Champions League title with Manchester United. Beckham also played for Real Madrid, AC Milan and PSG in his career.
