Aston Villa overturned an early setback to beat Leeds United 2–1 at Elland Road on Sunday, with Morgan Rogers scoring twice to seal a hard-fought Premier League victory.

Leeds, desperate to climb out of the relegation zone, made a bright start and were rewarded inside 10 minutes. Sean Longstaff’s dangerous set-piece caused panic in the Villa box, with Pascal Struijk seeing an effort cleared off the line before Lukas Nmecha inadvertently bundled Konsa’s attempted clearance into the net.

Daniel Farke’s side pressed relentlessly and could have doubled their lead through Brenden Aaronson, but Emiliano Martínez produced a strong low save.

Leeds dominated the first half, limiting Villa to scraps until Ollie Watkins curled inches wide late in the period.

But Unai Emery’s side emerged transformed after the break.

Second-half substitutes Donyell Malen and Ian Maatsen helped tilt momentum, and Villa equalised just five minutes into the restart.

Malen’s driven cross from the right found Rogers at the near post, and the forward lifted the finish over Lucas Perri for 1–1.

Villa’s pressure grew, and Leeds; who had three players booked struggled to regain their rhythm. The comeback was complete on 69 minutes when Rogers curled a superb dipping free-kick over the wall and beyond Perri to give the visitors a 2–1 lead.

Leeds introduced Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Daniel James late on as they chased an equaliser, but Villa managed the closing stages well, with Ross Barkley and Jadon Sancho helping slow the tempo.

The victory extends Villa’s impressive run; now six league wins in seven and pushes Emery’s men to the top four. Leeds, despite their strong home form, remain in the bottom three and face rising pressure heading into a crucial stretch of the season.
