After suffering a 2-1 loss to Newcastle United in the English Premier League, Manchester City’s efforts to bounce back to winning ways fell short as Pep Guardiola’s side lost in shocking fashion to German side Bayer Leverkusen.

Alejandro Grimaldo and Patrick Schick scored in the 23rd and 54th minutes respectively to give Leverkusen a big win in the UEFA Champions League.

Following the stunning win, Leverkusen’s English defender Jarrell Quansah, who until recently played in the EPL for Liverpool, was ecstatic about the win saying to TNT Sports,

“It’s an unbelievable feeling [to win at the Etihad] to be honest. We needed a lot of character and a lot of fight and grit.”

“We know they’ve got a lot of world class quality…so, it was always going to be a tough task when they came on. We defended a bit deeper than I would have liked to but glad to get the win.”

Man City rank sixth in the standings while Bayer Leverkusen rank 13th following Tuesday’s result.
