Senegal Head Coach Pape Thiaw says he has no regret over the country’s draw with the Democratic Republic of Congo at the ongoing 2025 AFCON and is already looking forward to the Teranga Lions’ final group stage game against Benin.

Thiaw said this in a post-game presser according to Sport News Africa after Senegal’s exciting 1-1 draw with DR Congo that keep matters in Group D quite interesting heading into the final round of games with the two countries on four points and Benin having three points after beating Botswana 1-0.

Senegal lead the group on goal difference and take on Benin on Tuesday, December 30 at 19:00 GMT with qualification on the line for either team and Thiaw is directing his focus to the upcoming game and not the draw with DR Congo.

“I don’t think inefficiency is a matter of player selection. Of course, you have to be more clinical in front of goal, and they are aware of that. I have no regrets.”

“This match is over and I’m already focused on the next one-game- against Benin, with the goal of winning it. Of course, there are things we could have done better (against DR Congo), but the match is behind us. Now we must focus on the next encounter” Thiaw said.
