Head coach of Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, the Black Queens, Kim Lars Bjorkegren says his team can be proud of its performance despite losing to England.

Ghana lost 2-0 to England’s Three Lionesses in an international friendly game played out at Southampton FC’s St. Mary’s Stadium.

The Black Queens conceded in the sixth minute after Lucia Kendall capitalized on a defensive mix up and conceded a converted penalty kick from Alessia Russo in the 94th minute.

England recently won the European Championship for the second time in a row and are widely regarded as the best in the world and Kim Bjorkegren believes the Black Queens performance in the loss wasn’t a bad one.

“As a coach you always want to win but at the same time we need to have in our mind that we are 67th in the rankings and we are playing against England that is potentially right now the best team in the world.”

“We were standing up, we were fighting for 90 minutes and I think we can be really proud of how we performed in the game. Overall, I’m really happy” Bjorkegren said.
