Nigeria captain Wilfred Ndidi says he will have a talk with striker Victor Osimhen over the latter’s angry reaction to getting substituted.
Osimhen was replaced in the 86th minute by Paul Onuachu and remonstrated after leaving the field as he headed to the bench.
The highly rated striker missed a couple of chances and cast a frustrated figure as Nigeria commenced their 2025 AFCON campaign with a 2-1 win over Tanzania.
In an interview after the game according to ESPN, Ndidi shared that Osimhen puts a lot of pressure on himself but shared that he would speak with him about the incident.
“He’s a big player, he wants to do the best for the team; so maybe [he’s] a bit frustrated, it’s normal.”

“I think he’s kind of like putting too much pressure on himself. I am going to speak to him. He’s a great guy, he wants to win.”

Nigeria take on Tunisia in their next game on Saturday, December 27 at 20:00 GMT.
