Liverpool Football Club head coach Arne Slot says the club has moved on from the Mohamed Salah controversy that dominated the headlines in recent weeks.

Salah slammed the club for “throwing him under the bus” after getting left out of the starting lineup for three straight games. He was dropped entirely from Liverpool’s team that beat Inter Milan 1-0 in the UEFA Champions League subsequently. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

However, Salah provided an assist in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion after featuring as an early substitute for the injured Joe Gomez.

Salah has since left to join Egypt to compete in the 2025 AFCON in Morocco; Egypt take on Angola, South Africa and Zimbabwe at the AFCON.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s big English Premier League game against Tottenham Hotspurs at 17:30 GMT on Saturday, December 20, Slot says the club has moved on from the incident.

“I said last week, actions speak louder than words. We moved on. He was in the squad and was the first substitution I made. Now he’s got AFCON and will play some big games so it’s only fair that all focus is on them [Egypt]” Slot said at a press conference.

After going through a difficult period over the past couple of months, Liverpool have improved to record a five game unbeaten run.
