Mampong Cluster of Compassion Assisted Projects concludes successful tournament

The Mampong Cluster of Compassion Assisted Projects has successfully concluded its four-day tournament, featuring football, volleyball, tennis, handball and athletics. The event aimed to promote child development and talent identification in the Mampong area and beyond.

Fourteen towns participated in the tournament, including Mampong Emmanuel CYDC, Jamasi Pentecost CYDC, Kona Presby CYDC, Prince of Peace CYDC Mamponteng, Faith CYDC Agona, Wiamoase CYDC, Kofiase Pentecost CYDC, Benim Bethel CYDC, Apaah Emmanuel CYDC, Mprim Methodist CYDC, Kwamang Presby CYDC, Nsuta Anglican CYDC, and Beposo CACI CYDC.

In the U15 football boys category, Sabronum emerged victorious, beating Apaah. In the girls’ category, Kona won the trophy after defeating Mprim 2-1 in a penalty shootout. In the U21 category, Kwamang defeated defending champions Agona, while Kofiase lost to Kwamang.

Speaking after the tournament, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Frimpong Emmanuel, emphasized the significance of such events in providing a platform for children to showcase their talents.

“Most children have talent but do not have the platform to showcase it,” he stated.

He further highlighted that such an event will help the children reach higher heights emphasizing that it will expose them to the world to see the talent in them.

Mr. Emmanuel also called for support to help protect the talent in the country stating that Ghana has great talents that needs guidance to grow.

Meanwhile, the Sports Master for Osei Kyeretwie Senior High School, Mr. Baba stated that more than 70% of the boys poses great talent emphasizing that when giving the bigger opportunity and platform they will demonstrate more than that.

He further revealed that, he has scouted some players during the tournament to augment the existing talent they have as a school.

The tournament showcased young talent and promoted community engagement, aligning with Compassion Ghana’s efforts to empower caregivers and support child development.
