Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim says the club will not rush into transfers during the January window, insisting lessons have been learned from previous recruitment mistakes.

The Portuguese coach’s comments come amid renewed calls for United to strengthen their squad ahead of the January transfer window, with further changes also expected in the summer.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Amorim stressed that any recruitment must follow a clear process, even if that means enduring short-term difficulties.

“But I also understand that we have a process. We want to do things with a certainty that we are not going to make the same mistakes in the past.

So if we need to suffer in some moments, we are going to suffer.
To try to push, to give two steps ahead. Maybe in the summer. I don’t know.
It’s a really tough market in January so we’ll see.

Amorim added that discussions around transfers are ongoing at the club and are not driven solely by the opening of the January window.

We have conversations all the time.
It’s not because we are in January. Of course, we are going to… The window is open. We need to understand what we can do.
Not just from the place that we can bring. What is going to happen to our squad.

The United boss said his immediate focus remains on working with the players already available to him rather than pushing for new signings.

“But I’m just thinking about and that is the good thing of the difficult moments;
I’m just thinking about recovering all of my players. So I’m not going to knock on the door of Jason and Omar to ask more players. They know what we need.
