The National Sports Authority (NSA) has announced the arrival of newly procured pitch covers designed to protect and preserve the quality of national stadium pitches during non-football and multi-purpose events.
The initiative follows a partnership engagement led by the NSA’s Marketing Unit, which earlier this year reached out to private institutions and investors to support the acquisition of modern pitch-protection systems. According to the Authority, the new covers will help safeguard the turf, reduce deterioration, and keep facilities in optimal condition for both sporting and non-sporting activities.

The NSA acknowledged the significant contribution of a wholly Ghanaian-owned company that singlehandedly funded the procurement of the pitch covers. The Authority described the gesture as a remarkable demonstration of national service and support for sports development.
With the equipment now in the country, deployment across designated national stadia is expected to begin soon. The NSA says the new pitch covers will enhance facility protection, reduce maintenance costs, and improve readiness for major events and competitions.

Commenting on the development, the Director-General of the NSA, Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, highlighted the importance of the support, saying:
“This support has come at a crucial time in our facility management efforts. The arrival of these pitch covers is a major step forward in protecting our pitches and ensuring that our stadiums remain in excellent shape for both athletes and event organizers. We are grateful to our partners for believing in our vision and contributing to the long-term sustainability of Ghana’s sports infrastructure.”
The NSA reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships that advance sports excellence, facility modernization, and an improved sporting experience for Ghanaians nationwide.
