Morocco booked their place in the semifinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a composed 2–0 victory over five-time champions Cameroon in Rabat, as Brahim Diaz once again proved decisive on the big stage.
Roared on by a partisan home crowd, the Atlas Lions took control midway through the first half when Diaz struck his fifth goal of the tournament.
After Achraf Hakimi’s corner caused chaos in the Cameroonian box, the Real Madrid forward reacted quickest to bundle the ball home, continuing his remarkable scoring streak at AFCON 2025.

Cameroon, who were forced into an early change after Junior Tchamadeu picked up an injury, struggled to match Morocco’s intensity and fluidity, though they showed more urgency after the break.
Bryan Mbeumo remained their main threat, but his efforts were repeatedly frustrated by a well-organised Moroccan defence and the safe hands of goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.

Any hopes of a late comeback were effectively ended in the 74th minute when Ismael Saibari produced a moment of quality.
From a free-kick just outside the box, the midfielder drilled a low effort into the bottom corner to double Morocco’s lead and ignite celebrations inside the stadium.
Morocco saw out the closing stages with authority, even as Cameroon pushed forward in search of a response. Substitute changes helped the hosts manage the game, and the final whistle sparked jubilant scenes as players and staff poured onto the pitch.
The win sends Morocco into the AFCON semifinals, where they will face the winner of the quarterfinal clash between Algeria and Nigeria. For Cameroon, an admirable tournament run comes to an end at the last-eight stage, having exceeded expectations despite early setbacks.
