Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is getting excellent early returns on the club’s investment in Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo as the former AFC Bournemouth player continues to excel.
Semenyo joined Man City less than a week ago but already has two goals and an assist in two games in all competitions to his credit.
After scoring on his debut in Man City’s 10-1 demolition of lower league side Exeter City in the FA Cup, Semenyo scored in Man City’s 2-0 win over Newcastle in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semifinals first leg.
The 26 year old Black Stars player could have had a brace but his second goal off a smart finish was chopped off controversially via a VAR decision that drew an angry reaction from Pep Guardiola according to Sky Sports who stated,
“They-Semenyo and Erling Haaland- were not completely connected. They were not ready to get that ball.”

“Second half they were ready. We know Bournemouth did an incredible job with him- Semenyo-and every time the ball arrives to him he always is there.”

“Four officials and VAR were not able to take the decision, they had to go to the referee. We know how it works and that will make us stronger. It’s the semi-finals. We play for a lot to reach the finals”.
