Manchester City hold the advantage in its Carabao Cup semifinal tie against Newcastle United heading into the second leg after clinching a hard fought 2-0 win over the Magpies at St. James’ Park.
For the second game in a row, Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo scored to give City the win; Rayan Cherki stepped off the bench to add on to the goals in added on time.
After scoring in his debut game, Semenyo timed his run into the penalty box perfectly to meet Bernardo Silva’s flick on Jeremy Doku’s cross and turn it into the net.
Minutes later, Semenyo’s second goal off an improvised finish was harshly chopped off for offside after a very lengthy VAR review but the Black Stars player says he is enjoying every moment since joining Man City from AFC Bournemouth almost a week ago.

“I’ve just come into that and they’ve helped me with my confidence. It’s been a lot, definitely been a lot, but I’m enjoying it so far, I’m definitely picking things up very quickly.”

“I’m enjoying it. I’m playing with a smile on my face. I’m enjoying every moment he said to the club’s media.
