Veteran journalist and Chairperson of the Women’s FA Cup Committee, Rosalind Amoh, believes Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren will cope well with expectations as Ghana await the draw for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The draw will determine Ghana’s group-stage opponents at the tournament, with the 16 qualified teams seeded into four pots based on the FIFA Women’s World Ranking as of 11 December 2025.
Ghana have been placed in Pot 1 alongside hosts Morocco, defending champions Nigeria and South Africa.
Speaking exclusively to Citi Sports ahead of the draw, Amoh said the appointment of Björkegren has addressed a key gap in the team’s setup.
What has been lacking was the technical direction and he has come to more or less help us solve that problem and so it is not in doubt. And I don’t think that he will be under stress or under pressure.

She stressed that the Black Queens’ primary objective should be qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
You see the most important thing is picking up the World Cup slot and then you decide that you want to now go for the title and the World Cup slot, the top four of the teams that will qualify and will advance in the World Cup.
Amoh expressed confidence in the team’s ability to achieve that target, while urging sustained support.

We are capable of doing it. Both the coach, me as well as the players are all capable of doing that. The most important thing is making sure that they sustain the momentum they had when they went to Morocco for the 2024 World Cup.
For us as a people and as a country, what we can also do is to ensure that we provide all the necessary logistics and support that they would require to achieve their aims.

She also pointed to Björkegren’s recent performances with the team as reason for optimism.
“What he did at the 2024 and also recently against the three Lionesses of England should give us hope that he knows his stuff and he knows what he wants to achieve with the Blacks. I think that, I mean the quality has always been there.
The Black Queens will learn their group opponents once the WAFCON draw is conducted, as preparations continue toward the continental showpiece.
