Ghana Basketball Federation President Alex Kukula has identified poor coaching as a major reason for Ghanaian basketball players’ failure to reach their full potential.

He noted this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports while addressing coaching development in Ghana after the Federation partnered Giants of Africa to hold an all-female basketball coaching clinic.

In the interview, Kukula shared that this is an area is of major importance to the recently elected Ghana Basketball Federation Executives and spoke about the impact it has on Ghana’s ability to compete at international level. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“Players are enthusiastic to play but they are not playing to their potential because the coaches are not well trained. The products you see is what the coach has put into them so if it’s very good, then there is a very good coach.”

“We all follow sports, in all spheres, it’s just basic that if you don’t have competent people bringing up your kids, they will end up very very limited in what they can do. To help us go to the next level internationally, we should develop our coaches at the base” Kukula said.
