Manchester United’s interim head coach Darren Fletcher got a taste of the frustration that has endured at the club in the 2025-2026 season as the Red Devils dropped points yet again from a winning position against a lowly ranked team.

Man United drew 2-2 with Burnley at Turf Moor after taking a 2-1 lead in the 60th minute thanks to Benjamin Sesko’s first brace for the club since joining the team this past offseason. However, the Red Devils conceded in the 66th minute through Jadon Anthony to pick up the draw.

Speaking to the BBC after his first game in his charge of the club on an interim basis following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim, Fletcher was disappointed with the draw but happy for Sesko who has struggled to find his feet at his new club.

“For me the fact we have drawn is a massive disappointment. We created more than enough to win the game so obviously it is disappointing when you only come away with a point. I was so happy for him-Sesko.”

“I spoke to him yesterday and we presented a video showing his movement and showing his goals, just showing how it is coming and he needs to keep believing and the players need to get more service to him.He did that tonight and scored two great goals. A real positive night for Ben.”

“The team is disappointed with a point but in terms of a personal level hopefully he can kick on from that now” Fletcher said.

Man United have drawn with fellow lowly ranked teams like Wolves and Leeds United in recent weeks.
