Kofi Adams Foundation Championship unearths talent as Bodada Zone Emerges Champions

The Minister for Sports and Recreation and Member of Parliament for Buem, Kofi Iddie Adams, has once again demonstrated the power of sport as a tool for community development with the successful hosting of the maiden Kofi Adams Foundation (KAF) Community Football Championship, staged as part of the Buem Experience Festival.

The championship, which climaxed with Bodada Zone lifting the trophy, has emerged not only as a community football competition but also as a credible platform for talent identification and technical scouting.

Following intense zonal preliminaries involving eight zones, which began on 10 December 2025, the final eight qualified teams battled for honours on 1 January 2026 at New Ayoma and 2 January 2026 at Jasico Park, attracting capacity crowds at both venues.

Nsuta Zone and Kute Zone finished second and third, respectively, with the tournament standing out for its high level of discipline and quality of play.

A major highlight of the championship was the scouting and shortlisting of seven standout players, identified by technical representatives and scouts, including Black Stars Assistant Coach and founder of John Paintsil Football Club, John Paintsil, and Alexander Jovic, Head Coach and Talent Scout at Kenpong Academy.

The selected players are now being lined up for development opportunities, trials, and potential academy placements, further underlining the tournament’s role in creating clear pathways for young footballers.

The event attracted several high-profile personalities, including Dr. Fred Awaah, Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority; Lawyer Richard Akpokavie, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee; Mr. Park Davies, MCE for Jasikan; as well as Baffour Gyan, Sammy Anim Addo, and Charles Osei Asibey.

They all commended the minister’s vision, leadership, and community-driven approach to grassroots sports development.

Beyond football, the KAF Community Football Championship has become a key highlight of the Buem Experience Festival, a multi-day cultural and recreational celebration that blends sport, music, tradition, and youth empowerment.
