Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres was a surprise omission from Arsenal’s starting lineup in their English Premier League game against Sunderland but the Swedish player says every player has a role to play in the team’s game plan from manager Mikel Arteta.
Gyokeres made these comments after scoring twice in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Sunderland after coming off the bench with the win solidifying Arsenal’s position at the summit of the league standings.
Scoring twice against Sunderland improved Gyokeres’ league tally to eight goals in 23 games at the time of writing and in a post-game interview with the BBC, he spoke about Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta saying,
“You work hard and try to do your role out on the pitch and as a striker, to try and help with the goals.”

“He-Mikel Arteta- always wants to get the best out of every individual. That’s important but you have a role to play in the match plan so we have to stick to that and do what we’re supposed to do.”

Arsenal take on Brentford next away from home on Thursday, February 12.
