Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo has described his friendship and relationship with teammate Erling Haaland as a healthy and motivating competition, insisting the pair share mutual respect and a common ambition to win trophies together.
Semenyo’s comments come after a viral clip circulated online showing Haaland joking that the Ghanaian striker was “coming for his Golden Boot” ; a remark that quickly sparked debate among fans about a potential battle for City’s top-scorer honours this season.
Speaking to CBS Golazo, Semenyo downplayed any notion of tension, instead praising Haaland’s personality and leadership within the dressing room.

He’s made me feel so comfortable. He’s a loud character in the changing room, very vocal, but he’s made me feel the most comfortable from day one.
Even before that clip came out, he was just saying it’s great to have you here.
The Black Stars forward revealed that both players openly acknowledge the competition between them, but view it as a positive force rather than a division.

“Obviously we’re going to win leagues and cups together and compete for top goal scorer as well. So it’s a nice friendly competition, but I’m glad he’s my teammate because he’s a goal machine. All he needs is one to get going.”
Semenyo added that having two prolific forwards in the same squad ultimately benefits the team more than the individuals.
It’s a healthy competition, but it’s good we’ve got two top goal scorers in the same team.

Semenyo’s remarks will be encouraging, painting a picture of harmony rather than rivalry at one of Europe’s biggest clubs and suggesting that the friendly duel with Haaland could push both strikers to even greater heights this season.
