Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, have paid a solemn tribute to the late Christian Atsu, three years after his passing, honouring a player whose commitment, humility and love for country left a lasting mark.

In a message shared on the team’s official X handle, the Black Stars remembered Atsu as a footballer who wore the national colours with pride and represented Ghana with distinction both on and off the pitch.

Atsu, affectionately known as “Twasam,” remains fondly remembered not only for his exploits on the field but also for his quiet generosity and selfless service to others.

His humility and compassion endeared him to teammates, fans and the wider football community.

The former Chelsea and Newcastle United winger earned several caps for Ghana, playing at major tournaments including the Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA World Cup, where he consistently gave his all for the Black Stars.

Though three years have passed since his tragic death, Christian Atsu’s legacy continues to inspire, serving as a reminder of the values of dedication, humility and patriotism he embodied throughout his career.

The Black Stars concluded their tribute by wishing him eternal rest, reaffirming that his memory will forever remain etched in Ghanaian football history.

Rest well, Twasam. 🕊️🕯️
