“2026 World Cup an opportunity to market Ghana to the world”- Deputy Finance Minister

Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Ampem Nyarko

Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem has described Ghana’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup as a key opportunity to promote the country on the global stage.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of a fundraising event for the World Cup, which was attended by President John Dramani Mahama.

Sports Minister Kofi Adams and GFA President Kurt Okraku were also present at the event that had high profile musicians Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy pledge $100,000 and $81,000, respectively to the World Cup Fund. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Ghana has secured qualification for this year’s World Cup and will compete in Group L alongside England, Panama, and Croatia.

Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Ampem, who doubles as Chairman of the Fundraising Committee, stated,

“For us as a country, we see the Black Stars participation in the World Cup as an opportunity to market Ghana, to sell Ghana and to show Ghana to the world and so apart from the sporting event…we are partnering GIPC-Ghana Investments Promotion Centre-to organize investment forums in major cities in DC-Washington-, in Toronto and others to allow Ghanaian companies to showcase what they have in this country.”
