The Accra Professional Ladies Open Finals, held at the Backyard Court in Osu, attracted tennis enthusiasts from different parts of the world who gathered to witness Coulibaly Saajo win the all-women’s tennis tournament.
Ivory Coast’s Coulibaly Saajo defeated Ghana’s Philippina Sewornu in straight sets to win the title and secure a training trip to Europe.
Speaking after the event, co-organiser of the 2026 Accra Professional Ladies Open, Naa Shika Adu, was happy with the success of the competition.
“I think that we did a great job. It’s been quite challenging but we had to put in a lot of work to have this come together. I’m happy they-the players- felt good and comfortable and we were able to serve them in a way that they can always remember and even ask us for more.”

“The goal was that this particular tournament was going to be in preparation for the Billie Jean Cup this year and we are not going to stop. We will find ways and means to support the players” she said.

The first runner-up received cash prizes and souvenirs, while the winner earned a sponsorship package from KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
Corporate Accounts Manager at KLM, Angela Quarcoo-Tchire, emphasised the importance of encouraging more girls to participate in sports by stating,

“It empowers women, builds strong communities and showcases incredible talent: supporting the Accra Professional Ladies Open aligns perfectly with our commitment to diversity and inclusion.”
“We want to help create a world where everyone can thrive. It’s more about building futures and expiring dreams” she said.
