Scores of fans of the Atlas Lions were spotted tooting their car horns, waving the flag of Morocco and cheering the move that ruled that the North African nation were the winners of the 2025 AFCON.

Senegal beat Morocco 1-0 in the 2025 AFCON Final in extra time but the final was marred by chaotic scenes prior to the end of regulation time.

On Tuesday, March 17, CAF’s Appeals Board ruled that Senegal’s walkout in the 2025 AFCON Final in protest over referee Jean-Jacques Ndala’s penalty decision had breached Articles 82 and 84 of the regulations. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

The breach meant that Senegal had forfeited the game and as a result had lost the contest via a 3-0 result hence Morocco getting declared as 2025 AFCON Champions.

General Secretary of the Senegalese Football Federation Abdoulaye Sow has stated that the Federation will appeal the ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)
