Senegal’s Football Federation Secretary General Abdoulaye Seydou Sow has stated that the Federation will appeal CAF decision to strip the Teranga Lions of the 2025 AFCON title to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
He made this statement in an interview on Tandarma on RTS 1 in response to Africa’s football governing body’s decision to uphold Morocco’s protest against Senegal for forfeiting the 2025 AFCON Final.
Senegal beat Morocco 1-0 in extra time to lift the 2025 AFCON title but the lead up to the final minutes of regulation time was filled with chaos as Senegal walked off the pitch to protest against a penalty decision awarded by referee Jean-Jacques Ndala.
Senegal returned to continue the game and Morocco forward Brahim Diaz missed his penalty kick attempt that forced the game into extra time.

However, CAF’s Appeal Board ruled on Tuesday, March 17 that Senegal’s walk out breached Articles 82 and 84 of the regulation leading which passed for a forfeiture of the game hence Morocco won the game 3-0 and got declared champions of the 2025 AFCON.

For Abdoulaye Sow, the decision from CAF was wrong and shared that the West African nation will seek an appeal at a higher body.

“The CAF disciplinary committee had made its decisions, and Morocco had appealed. This decision is a breach of trust that is not based on any rule of law. We had the feeling that the jury was not there to uphold the law, but to carry out an order.”

“We will contact our lawyers and file an appeal. We will stop at nothing. The law is on our side, The fight is far from over. Senegal will defend its rights to the very end” Abdoulaye Sow said.
