Everton’s commanding 3-0 win over Chelsea capped off what English midfielder James Garner described as a “great week.”
The Toffees dominated at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Garner providing an assist in the victory, coming just a day after earning his debut call-up to the England men’s national team. Garner was included in manager Thomas Tuchel’s 35-man squad for friendly matches against Uruguay on March 27, 2026, and Japan on March 30, 2026.
Everton’s goals came from a brace by Beto and a brilliant, curled finish from Senegal winger Illiman Ndiaye, compounding Chelsea’s woes after their 8-2 aggregate loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League earlier this week.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, James Garner reflected on the performance and praised Beto, saying,

“Since he’s come back into the team. He’s shown goals, and other stuff he does off the ball. Two goals and an assist today. I’m so happy. I’m over the moon. It’s a dream [to get the England call up]. He-Thomas Tuchel- rang me and said I’ll be involved, it’s been a crazy week, and to top it off with a win is even better.”
