Liverpool head coach Arne Slot acknowledged the role Galatasaray supporters played to aid the Turkish team beat Liverpool.
Galatasaray beat the Reds 1-0 in Istanbul with Mario Lemina scoring the decisive goal in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 stage tie.
Speaking to UEFA after the loss, Arne Slot echoed Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch’s concerns about the team’s wastefulness in front of goal and added that he is hoping Liverpool fans can create an intimidating atmosphere like the one Galatasaray fans did to push the team to a win.
“We had multiple chances to score. After 10-15 minutes you expect us to lead and then their first attack leads to a set-piece goal. We can do better, I’m 100% sure about that.”

“Next week we play at Anfield and our fans will be so supportive for us. I think that was today the situation for Galatasaray. They had great support from their fans, it was difficult for us to play in. Let’s hope we can create the same atmosphere next week at Anfield” Slot said.
