Ghana defender Maxwell Woledzi earned top marks for his performance in his debut game in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
The Nashville SC player excelled in the club’s goalless draw with Inter Miami in the first leg at the round of 16 stage of the continental championship; the return leg takes place on March 18 in Miami.
The all-MLS clash that had Nashville take on the reigning Major League Soccer Champions Inter Miami, had the recently signed defender play out the entire duration of the competitive contest.
Woledzi’s appearance was his third in a row after joining the club from Norwegian side Fredrikstad FK; his performances have put him on the radar for a call up to the Black Stars ahead of international friendly games against Austria on March 27 and Germany on March 30.

In 90 minutes against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, the 24 year old made five recoveries, won two of four ground duels, blocked two shots and made five clearances.
He went on to deliver one of the highlight displays of skill to evade pressure from Inter Miami midfielder Rodrigo De Paul. (Scroll down to watch video)

In the face of a rash of injuries to Black Stars defenders and his brilliant start to Nashville, Woledzi’s chances of receiving a debut Black Stars call up have increased exponentially.
