MTN FA Cup Quarter-Finals: What you need to know ahead of this weekend’s showdowns

The 2025/26 MTN FA Cup heats up this weekend as the competition reaches its Quarter-Final stage on March 14–15, 2026. With defending champions Asante Kotoko already eliminated by Aduana FC, the path to the trophy is wide open for the eight remaining clubs.

The quarter-finals will be hosted across two major venues: the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman and the Cape Coast Stadium.

  • Premier League Power Struggle: Nations FC vs Berekum Chelsea promises a tactical, high-intensity battle between two established Premier League sides.

  • Former Champions Eyeing a Return: Dreams FC, the 2022/23 winners, aim to reclaim glory but must first overcome a resilient Heart of Lions squad, who survived a five-goal thriller in the Round of 16.

Historic Facts & Did You Know?

  • Legacy of 1958: The Ghana FA Cup was founded in 1958, just one year after Ghana’s independence.

  • Big Two Missing: Accra Hearts of Oak (11 titles) and Asante Kotoko (10 titles) are absent this year, a rare occurrence in the final eight.

  • Goal-Fest Season: The 2025/26 edition has already seen 258 goals across 94 matches, showcasing attacking flair.

  • Revitalized Glory: Thanks to MTN’s sponsorship, the FA Cup returned from an eight-year hiatus (2002–2010) to become Ghana’s premier knockout competition.

  • Dreams FC (2022/23 Champions): A Dawu-based club founded in 2009, Dreams FC has rapidly become a powerhouse and recently reached the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals.
