Head of TV and Media Communications at Africa’s football governing body (CAF), Luxolo September has blasted detractors of CAF President Patrice Motsepe over corrupt allegations levelled against the football administrator regarding the handling of the 2025 AFCON Final legal tussle.
CAF’s Appeal Board earlier this week ruled that Morocco had been confirmed as winners of the 2025 AFCON and not Senegal due to forfeiture on the part of the West African nation when players walked off the pitch to protest against a penalty decision.

The fallout from the ruling has been massive and many have labelled CAF and CAF President Patrice Motsepe as corrupt but Luxolo September disagreed with this per his statement according to African football expert Micky Jnr.

“No one can buy Motsepe. He donated $10 million USD to CAF and hasn’t taken a cent from CAF or FIFA. People have this lazy stereotype about Africans being corrupt. When they say Dr. Patrice Motsepe is ‘bought,’ I ask: ‘By who? For how much?’ It’s laughable.”

“For 6 years, he’s not taken a single cent. CAF doesn’t pay for his travel, accommodation, or salary. Who can buy him? How can he be bought? We should have confidence that some leaders are incorruptible. He’s probably the only football leader today who doesn’t take a cent from football.”
