He shared this in an interview on Citi FM’s Sports Panorama after experiencing his debut training camp with the Black Starlets in preparation for the Under 17 CAF AFCON later this year.
The American born starlet who plays for Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit FC Dallas’ youth team, talked about his football profile in the interview where he detailed his ability to play as a right back and a left back but picked the right wing position as his best.
Martey, who has the chance to represent the United States of America, decided to represent Ghana early in his football career and spoke about the reason behind the decision.
“It’s just an honour to represent Ghana. I think it’s because of my parents; they were both born in Accra and they left a legacy for me to pick up so I think representing the Black Starlets and Ghana itself is a blessing.”

“I think that’s one of the main motivations on why I chose to represent Ghana at such a young age” Mantey said.
