Match Day 2 of the 2026 Honda Football Championship at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium kicked off in thrilling fashion, with the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS) recording their second consecutive victory.
They edged Tamale Technical University (TaTU) 2-1 in the opening game of the day, following their Match Day 1 triumph over the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), which they won 3-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

TaTU started strong, taking the lead in the 10th minute through Alhassan Fuseini, whose clinical finish set the tone for an exciting and competitive encounter.
UBIDS, however, responded swiftly. Abdulai Zakari leveled the score in the 18th minute, shifting momentum and energizing his side to push for the winner.
The midfield battle was intense, with both teams refusing to give ground. As the match looked set for a draw, UBIDS struck again. Nang-Ib Niber-yang Karl scored in the 44th minute of the second half, securing the decisive goal and all three points for UBIDS. Their victory confirms them as early front-runners in the tournament.
