The University of Development Studies continue to emerge as one of the standout teams at the 2026 Honda Football Championship, delivering another composed and resilient performance to maintain their perfect start.

After edging past Bolgatanga Technical University on penalties in their opening match, UDS once again proved their mental strength, overcoming the University of Energy and Natural Resources in a thrilling encounter that went down to the wire.

Match Day 2 started in dramatic fashion, with UENR taking an early lead through Awuah Bismark in just the 4th minute, immediately putting UDS on the back foot.

But the response was swift and composed.

UDS gradually grew into the contest and found their breakthrough in the 32nd minute when Jorge Renah fired home the equalizer to make it 1-1, restoring belief and momentum.

Just before halftime, however, UENR struck again. Aziz Yusif restored their lead in the 45th minute, leaving UDS with yet another mountain to climb.

And once again, they responded.

In the 64th minute, Emmanuel Adongo stepped up to level the game at 2-2, forcing a second consecutive penalty shootout for UDS in the tournament.

With pressure mounting, UDS held their nerve from the spot, converting with precision to seal a 4-3 shootout victory their second in as many matches.

Two games. Two wins. And a growing reputation as the team that simply refuses to break under pressure.

Attention now turns to Match Day 3 at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, where UDS will face the University of Professional Studies Accra in what promises to be another high-stakes clash.

Elsewhere, University of Mines and Technology take on Tamale Technical University, while the University of Ghana meet University of Business and Integrated Development Studies. UENR will also look to bounce back against BTU.

Kickoff for all fixtures is set for 3:00 PM.

The 2026 Honda Football Championship is powered by Honda Motor Company in partnership with Overseas Union Ltd, and produced by RITE Sports Services.
