Austria’s National Men’s Football Team head coach Ralf Rangnick has shed light on recent player switches to the team.
The former Man United head coach spoke about the aforementioned issue while discussing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka and PSV midfielder Paul Wanner’s switch from England and Germany respectively to Austria.
Rangnick included both players in his squad to take on Ghana on Friday, March 27 in an international friendly game that serves as preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
At the World Cup, Ghana has been drawn in Group L with England, Panama and Croatia while Austria take on Algeria, Jordan and Argentina in Group J.

Chukwuemeka and Wanner’s debut call up headlined a squad that included Real Madrid defender David Alaba and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marcel Sabitzer.

“We never put pressure on them but we made it clear at all times that we wanted them with us. I am convinced that both will be extremely helpful to Austria and the national team” Rangnick said to Krone.

At the time of writing, Ghana head coach Otto Addo is yet to name his squad for friendlies against Austria and Germany on March 30. Scroll down to view full list of Austria’s squad.
