Paris Saint-Germain and Morocco National Men’s Football Team defender Achraf Hakimi has reacted to the exit of Walid Regragui from his role as head coach as Morocco’s National Men’s Football Team.
Regragui announced his exit on Thursday, March 5 and is expected to be replaced by Mohammed Ouahbi who led Morocco to win the Under 20 FIFA World Cup in 2025. Morocco became the second ever African nation to win the title after Ghana’s triumph in 2009.
Under Regragui, Morocco qualified to the 2022 and 2026 FIFA World Cups and became the first African nation to reach the semifinals stage. Morocco has been in Group C at the 2026 edition and will play against Brazil, Haiti and Croatia at the group stage of the tournament.
At the AFCON Regragui had mixed results as Morocco exited at the group stage in the 2023 edition and finished second as hosts of the 2025 edition.
Describing Regragui as a leader with passion and vision, Hakimi paid his respect to his former head coach by stating on his X page,

“You have left an unforgettable mark on the history of Moroccan football. Thank you for making us dream and for carrying our colours with such pride. Legend.” Scroll down to read full post.
