Black Stars’ job my “biggest challenge yet” – Carlos Queiroz

New Black stars  head coach Carlos Queiroz has declared his appointment as the biggest challenge of his career, after being officially unveiled in Accra ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The experienced tactician was introduced at the Alisa Hotel, with just 49 days remaining before the global showpiece kicks off.

“This Is the Soul of the Black Stars”

In his first address, Queiroz struck an emotional and determined tone, revealing he has already felt the weight of expectation surrounding the national team.

“It’s an honour and a privilege for me to be here. Since I arrived, I started to feel that this is the soul of the Black Stars… and it is huge.”

The former Portugal national football team and Iran national football team coach emphasized that Ghana’s football identity carries massive expectations and he is embracing it fully.

“My Biggest Challenge in 40 Years”

Despite a career spanning over four decades and multiple World Cups, Queiroz did not hold back in describing the magnitude of the task ahead.

“After eight national teams and many competitions, this is the biggest challenge of my entire career and I’m glad for that.”

It’s a bold statement from a coach who has managed at the highest level, including spells with Real Madrid CF and Manchester United

A Promise to Deliver

Queiroz also made a clear commitment to Ghanaians, promising to lean on his vast experience as the Black Stars prepare for the tournament.

“I can promise I will bring 40 years of knowledge and experience to every decision. With unity, ambition, and support from everyone; we can bring success and happiness.”

The 73-year-old called for unity across all fronts from the federation to the fans as Ghana looks to make a statement on the world stage.

“All together, one Ghana united with cohesion and ambition… I feel ready.”

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup fast approaching, Queiroz’s arrival signals the start of a high-stakes mission one built on experience, pressure, and the weight of a nation’s expectations.
